Calligraphy treatises are written works of the accumulation and experiences of calligraphy masters; they were written to enhance theoretical knowledge and practical ability in the field of this valuable art. Majnun Rafiqi Heravi was one of the poets and calligraphers of the Timurid era of Herat, who left behind two verse treatises and one prose treatise in the field of calligraphy and calligraphy. These treatises cover topics such as the principles and rules of calligraphy, writing etiquette, introducing calligraphy tools and supplies, mentioning calligraphy masters and stating their rank, etc. The points and materials presented about the "dot" in calligraphy are also one of the issues that Rafiqi Heravi has explained in these treatises. With the general aim of investigating the role of the dot in calligraphy, this research has reread three treatises on calligraphy and literacy, calligraphy drawing, and calligraphy etiquette by Majnun Rafiqi Heravi. The present research seeks to answer the question of what Majnun Rafiqi Heravi's view was on the role and function of the dot in calligraphy? The method of collecting information was through library sources and was done with a descriptive-analytical method. Considering the findings of the research, it was concluded that Majnun Rafiqi Heravi introduced the dot in his treatises as the measure and scale of the line. Also, while explaining the method of calligraphy dot as a complete square, he considered the function of dotting effective for testing the correctness or incorrectness of the pen sharpening.
