One of the collections of metal vessels in the Astan Quds Razavi Museum is the collection of metal jugs in this museum. These vessels mainly consist of steel and brass works made with the art of calligraphy and black ink, and decorated with the art of enameling and inlaying with turquoise gems. These metal vessels, with their eye-catching designs and engraved lines, represent the date of manufacture, manufacturer, and history that has been inscribed on them. Ten exquisite artifacts in the Astan Quds Razavi Museum and 26 document sheets in the Astan Quds Razavi Documentary Research Foundation were examined in relation to the use of abriqs. Among the documents found, the word abriq or abariq was observed, which indicated the use of this container and how it was collected in past eras. The aim of this research is to analyze the use of metal jugs in the Astan Quds Razavi Museum according to the available documents. The research data is based on library and documentary studies. This research is descriptive-analytical in terms of its fundamental purpose, historical-descriptive in nature and method, qualitative in terms of its data analysis method, and descriptive-analytical in terms of its processing method, in order to answer the following questions: What is the use of metal jugs in the Astan Quds Museum based on the existing documents? How are jugs collected in the Astan Quds Museum? The research findings show that the use of jugs varies according to the capacity of the body and the shape of the container, and accordingly, jugs were used with the names of abriz, aftabeh, abpash, golabdan, and mashreba (sherbetkhuri). The research results indicate that jugs with a lid for sprinkling rose water and of small size were used as containers for edible liquids such as milk in children's schools and traditional intoxicants such as mint extract and almond oil in the Dar al-Shifa of Imam Reza (AS). The medium-sized jug was mainly used for giving water to pilgrims to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), and the jug with a basin was used as a hand wash in the servants' guardhouse, and the large jug with a broom was used for washing and cleaning the courtyards of the Holy Shrine. Historical documents relate to the Safavid and Qajar periods, and the jugs used in the Holy Shrine in the Safavid and Qajar periods were purchased and provided with cash and in-kind funds. The jugs in the Astan Quds Razavi Museum are endowments and donations from kings, elders, and servants of the Holy Shrine.
